It is Christmas time again

Christ has become a random person ‘X’. Christmas has become x-mas. We are now worshipping a ‘thing’. The world tend to reduce an important person in people’s lives into an insignificant bit. This scientific reductionism tries to remove the importance of this day.

It was a timely reminder how we just gloss over the importance of this day. Let’s take some time to ask ourselves what does Christmas actually mean.

The true joy of Christmas was given to all about 2000 years ago. and most importantly, this joy was given to “whosoever that believes in Him.” It’s a personal choice. a life-changing choice.

anti-competition?

How do you even stop ‘bad’ competition when content providers encourage that practice?

Singtel and Starhub have already submitted a joint bid for the World Cup broadcast rights in a ”mutual decision”. Let us just assume that Singtel and Starhub are doing this all to help lower the costs of watching the World Cup series. The content provider thus isn’t helping. The payTV operators are now trapped between submitting separate bids (that will increase costs for the consumers and increase the chances of securing rights) vs submitting a joint bid (that may lower costs, but also lengthens the time taken to secure the rights).

We already missed the bidding process. FIFA, stop sucking money from us. Can’t you just accept this already-higher-than-last-year’s bid. haiz.

The only silver lining in the clouds for viewers in Singapore is Fifa’s ruling to make four of the most important World Cup games free-to-air. The opening game between host South Africa and Mexico on June 11, the semi-finals on July 6 and 7, and the final on July 11 will be available for free.

We just have to sit and wait.

trains

Nice! The most priceless expression. Ever.

Was going to meet my mentor at Tampines after work. Arrived at the train station platform @ Bedok, stood around whilst waiting for the minutes to pass. As the train pulled into the station, I was quite surprised at how slow it was going. All of a sudden, the train made some squeaking noises, and came to a complete halt…even before the entire train was in the station. In fact, it was only 1/2 way in. As the driver made corrections to get the train aligned properly, the look on his face was priceless. Everyone was staring at him, wondering what was going on.

When I finally boarded the train, I finally knew why that mistake was committed. The way the train captain accelerated and braked for the subsequent stations convinced me that he was a newbie, a noob. :)

It was really funny. I wished my 97mini’s camera loaded faster. it would have been fun.

without school

This is surprising. I thought that the school holidays will be a month of rest and what-not. This is so not the case now. I sleep way past 12mn on a daily basis, as compared to about 10.30pm on a normal school day. During the school term, I still have time to ‘nua’ around, as compared to being on my feet the entire day.

Work, movies, church, housework, reading, gatherings, shopping, random activities, etc etc, takes up so much time. (as compared to school homework that is). I have gotta return to sleeping at 10.30pm.

And the nightmares about exams should stop…like….now.

results

SMU’s results will be released today, just a week-and-a-half after their last paper. NTU’s exam period just ended on the 7th of Dec, but we have to wait 3 weeks and 2 days for ours. NICE!

exams are over

haha. this post is a little lag..but who cares. no datelines for now, at least, and there is no compulsion to add post counts anyway. wahaha. The feeling I have of not going to school is a mixed one. There was at least 1 day when I woke up feeling so down, thinking that I have a paper, and then it struck me that it was actually the holidays. These withdrawal symptoms are so scary. :) haha

Okay, apart from going back to work to help out, and earn some pocket money at the same time, this month is going to be full of meeting-ups, get-togethers, dinner-’dates’, etc. This month, i promise, will be a month where I won’t lock myself at home. This shall be a month when i try to go for all activities whenever I can.

and first on the list was the ‘cheapest post-exam activity’.

Gathered with a small group of what’s left of the ravis (today = 4 including me). :) Anyways, it was a great time to catch up after the exams again, without the stress of school. Botak Jones is just a few blocks away from me, but I had to make a trip all the way to AMK’s one, so that I won’t PS :P Out of the countless gatherings, I only went for 2, and this is the 2nd one. wahaha. I shall be secretly proud of myself for not PS-ing this time round. :) Thanks guys and gals for the invitation. :) Glad I took myself out of the workplace/home and got down to having a little get-together. It was fulfilling.

Back home now, getting ready to plan stars correctly…”STARS and crescent, please shine on me, turning out hopes into reality”
